Happy 4th and ...

Happy Independence Day my friends, readers, and adversaries! Let us rejoice in the anniversary of the birth of this Republic that is indeed the Last Best Hope for mankind. And let us never, never, never, forget those words captured so well in our collective certificate of birth, words that are written on the hearts of men by the hand of God who assures us that all of us are created with certain inalienable rights and amongst these rights are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

I will be posting only sporadically during July as part of the month will be spent on vacation and part of it as host to some folks very dear to me (KsReaganite's family is going to be visiting him).

God Bless You and May He Always Bless America!!

Retort to previous post

I have been asked, and have a received an email or two in pursuance of that query as well, if I find any arguments of the self-declared 'pro-choice' camp intellectually or morally viable. Now, the moral part, I won't address because that is based on deep beliefs anchored in faith. The intellectual part, I shall comment on because it will come as a surprise to many of my readers. There is one line of argument amongst the 'pro choice' advocates that I find very compelling and intellectually rigorous. Unfortunately, perhaps because of the need to keep appearances in a society given to appearances, few make this argument publicly. One person who did make this argument is a woman I met in college (she was in grad school at the time), who was a downright radical feminist and wore black clothes all the time as a mark of that feminism. Perhaps the only thing she and I agreed upon was that the sun comes out in the East. Today she is an administrator in one of those taxpayer funded east coast colleges and still a full fledged feminist, I am sure.
To this woman, until a a baby was actually born and severed physically from the mother, it was not a life or anything like that, but simply a blob of tissue. She did not believe that life began prior to birth. Hence, it became a matter of individual liberty for her..the freedom to do what you want with your own body since nobody's elses' life was involved there. In other words, her beliefs were anchored in an internal integrity that withstood the test of intellectual rigor. It was an argument I found chilling but very well reasoned and steadfast. And I will always respect that argument because it is very impolite, politically incorrect, and yet bold and made with seamless reason. What I find very hard to fathom, is the politically correct stance that 'I personally believe that life begins at conception but....'. But what? If it begins at conception according to you, you should be doing everything possible to extend legal protections to that life; if you don't believe it begins at conception, you should be doing everything possible to protect the personal liberty of the expectant woman.

Be like Martin Luther, who some believed was right and others thought was wrong. Few, if any, doubted his intellectual integrity when he calmly told the assembled earthly powers of Europe, to their faces, that 'This is what I believe, here I stand; I can do no other!"

Another ethical question for liberals

Okay, now I have another tough question for my liberal friends, readers, and adversaries (because I know how conservatives would answer it). Here is the scenario and the question follows.

A late term abortion is being carried out in a hospital by a mediocre, but licensed, fellow who has a a MD degree. For whatever reason the abortion is botched and the baby is delivered and is entirely outside the mother's body.

At that point, should the hospital staff be required to treat the baby as a human being in dire need of life saving assistance or should they 'correct' the error of the abortion-provider and let the baby die out since that was the original purpose of the procedure anyway?

A link worth it

Today I am adding to my blog roll on the right side panel of this screen a link that is both substantive and symbolic. It will take you to the wonderful website of AIPAC, the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee, an organization dedicated to keeping strong the support of the people of the United States for Israel. Israel is the closest ally America has in the world along with Turkey and the Unitedt Kingdom. There have been times (like the Scud attacks in the First Gulf War) that Israel has sacrificed its own safety for the sake of American security. These are our friends, and AIPAC is their lobby in America.

KsReaganite has been a long time proud supporter of a democratic Israel within safe and secure borders and with a united Jerusalem as it ancient and eternal capital. For as the Psalmist said thousands of years ago, If I forget thee O Jersalem, let my right hand forget its cunning and my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth.

Obama: The candidate endorsed by child rapists

A carefully crafted death penalty law that punishes those adults who rape (and we are not talking about statutory rape) small children envisions a punishment 'that is disproportional to the nature of the crime', so sayeth the United States Supreme Court. The 5-4 decision was joined by all the four liberal judges (the kind that Barack Obama has pledged to appoint) along with one 'moderate' and vigorously opposed by the four so-called conservative judges (the kind that John McCain has promised to seek). Well, normal, average, decent America, itf you ever needed a reason for being ultra leery of Barack Obama's judicial picks-and wanting know why it is important to have judges who RESPECT the right of legislature to protect the vulnerable-you need to reflect on this.

The liberal Democrats fervently believe that our liberites are served by having judges who think the death penalty in too much punishment for the rapist of a seven year old girl. And that is exactly the kind of judges you will get at every level of the federal judiciary when Barack Obama becomes president. Oh I know Obama said he 'disagreed' with the decision; what else did you expect him to say? But time and again he has said and will say that he will appoint judges like Justices John Paul Steven and Ruth Bader Ginsburg, judges who passionately believe in going light on child rapists.

Now, KsReaganite is almost an opponent of the death penalty and finds it very very disturbing. But for rape of a child, once it has been proven by eye witness testimony and credible due process to a jury of peers, my conscience will have no qualms in saying: fry the son of a witch if that is what the law says.

You want your child protected? Better vote McCain because if Mr. Obama becomes president, the rape of a seven year old girl may not be something we'd be allowed to punish too harshly.

By the way, you'll notice not a squeak about the decision today from Planned Parenthood and NOW; if it surpsises you, it doesn't surpsise me, because for all their glossy public relations, I have always considered those groups to be extremely anti-children. Plus they are embarassed after screaming at the top of their lungs how liberal judges were needed to protect women and children; please, the liberal judges just endorsed the rape of a seven year old girl. Shame on these pro-pedophile liberal judges and the groups who support them.

Yearning unto death

As I watch with horro the open and deliberate attack on innocent men and women in Zimbabwe whose only crime has been to yearn for freedom from a megalomanic tyrant, it is not lost on me how largely silent the mainstream civil scoiety has been. None of that outrage for sanctions and divestment that we saw in the 1980s when the culprit was the white minority government in South Africa or the 1970s when the culprit was the much gentler-by Mugabe's standards-white minority government of Zimbabwe (then called Rhodesia) itself. Why is it that when blacks brutalize blacks, our consciences fall silent? Is it because in the halls of the effiminate, French wine sipping, self declared enlightened Boston Brahmins, it is considered impolite to criticize certain groups, no matter who the victim is?

Thousands have been murdered, hundreds raped, entire villages burnt to the ground, and scores of children abducted...all because they dared to hope for freedom in the foulest land in southern Africa. And yet, largely thanks to the deafening silence of the liberal elite in Washington, more will in the hope, perhaps forlorn, that freedom will come to them in their lifetimes.

While the couplet was written perhaps for a beloved individual or Spirit, the words of the Persian-Urdu poet Mirza Ghalib capture the unto-death yearning for freedom in Zimbabwe very well.

It was not in my fate to meet my beloved;
Had I lived but longer, this would still be my only desire.
But to live on your promise is to make my life a lie,
Would I not have died of happiness had I trusted it?

Pawlenty, take II

As promised in my previous post, here is further on Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty's bonafides.

Timothy Pawlenty is the archtype of the Reagan Democrat with which the GOP is trying to reconnect. Granted that Pawlenty is a Republican, however, his background screams 'Reagan Democrat': blue collar roots, ethnic Roman Catholic parents (though the governor, being a guy of course, followed his good wife into the Southern Baptist oriented evangelical churches), family involvement in labor unions, ardent hunter and angler. As a governor he continues to play ice hockey with his brothers on a charity team, often stops by small burger joints and pubs, and hosts a radio show. He is one of the 'guys'. That may be the reason, perhaps, that in the Republican debacle of 2006, Pawlenty was getting reelected in a very Democratic state over a very popular liberal Democrat challenger. If symbolism matters in elections, and we know it does, Tim Pawlenty is our guy. Plus, some polls suggest strongly that he may help carry Minnesota for us (No Democrat has ever won the White House without carrying Minnesota in the last sixty years).

This guy will firmly underline the fact that today, it is the Republican Party that is the party of the average American who works hard, loves his country, goes to church, and has a beer or two while watching NASCAR races. Tim Pawlenty's nomination will underscore what everyone but the mass media knows now: the Democratic Party is the party of over educated, snobbish, wine sipping, French film watching, Catholic hating, secular elitists who consider gun owning and church attendance as examples of the bitterness of racists.

And lest it come up, Governor Tim and Judge Mary Pawlenty have been married for a long time, their first and only marriage, and are blessed with two children. Mary Pawlenty, who recently resigned as district court judge to become head of a mediation service, is of course the type of woman who frightens liberal Democrats to the core. A reputed trial lawyer, who was appointed judge in her own right by former Governor Arne Carlson, Mrs. Pawlenty has never shied away from being a woman of faith and has always maintained that her family comes first and foremost in her life. Suffice to say, that in her reelection campaigns for judgeship, she received not a dime from the Womens National Lawyers Association (WNLA), Planned Parenthood, or Emily's List. This is a woman who is her own person, not beholden to anyone for success but to her Creator. She'd be an awesome Second Lady of the United States of America.

Let's roll!!!!

The winning ticket for real America

KsReaganite's Veepstakes

Everyone else has had a speculative say, and now it's my turn. After careful consideration of the probables, KsReaganite is happy to recommend Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty as the vice presidential nominee of the GOP. More on the endorsement later as I am on the road this week, but suffice to say that Governor Pawlenty's principles are solid, his heart compassionate, and his executive experience commendable. And yes, he has a first class wife in Judge Mary Pawlenty!

What a Father's Day

While we listen to the sappy nonsense of liberal politicians on Father's Day, let's not forget that todat there are 12 million, yes that is ten plus one two, good fathers in this land of the free who are denied the right to be participants in the lives of their own children. These men are not convicts, they are not the defaulters of the crushing tax known as 'child support' (which should be actually called  'new boyfriend support'), and they are not those who abandoned their children (as Barack Obama seems to think all absent fathers do). No, these are men whose only fault was to be married to women who one day decided that they needed new fathers for their children, used unilateral no-fault divorce, and got the radicalized family courts to kick out the men from their own homes and the lives of their own children.

And no court will do a darn thing to stop this miscarriage of justice, a miscariage whose astronomical costs include juvenile delinquency, child molestation, teen pregnancy, and educational disasters. Yes, the numbers tell the story: boys without biological fathers at home are secen times more likely to have a brush in with the law, girls six times the national rate of teen pregnancy, and both ten times more likely to underachieve in school. The number one source of child molestation in America? You got it! The unrelated boyfriend or next husband of the woman who lives with her children sired by another man.

You wonder why do the politicans, bureaucrats, and courts do nothing? Are you kidding? Why should they? Child welfare bureaucrats ake money everytime there is a child support order..and hence everytime there is a no-fault divorce. They make even more money if one parent (always the mother) gets full custody. Politicians are too scared to challenge the liberal media or compromise the donations of extremist groups like NOW and Planned Parenthood, whose business is dependent on marginalization of nuclear families. And judges are drawn from the legal fraternity whose very bread and butter is fed by unilateral no faul divorce and full child custody by divorcing women.

With the signal exception of some 12 states, the rest of the country wallows in this state sponsored destruction of families by the same people who, today, will make speeches on the importance of fatherhood. These politicians, and most of them are anatomically men I will grant, do deserve to have their own children and their children's children taken away from them in the same fashion by a family court. Only then will they understand.

The biggest threat to this disgraceful racket of anti-child, anti-father regime are bills that promote a rebuttable presumption shared parenting when parents split.  Carefully notice what happens every time such a bill comes up in your legislature. I will bet you a million that you see child welfare bureaucrats, radical feminists, the divorce bar, cowardly Democrats, liberal Republicans, and newspaper editors all opposing it. Of course they will; they know where their bread is buttered.

Every American man, on the verge of blissful matrimony, should keep this in mind. Unless he lives in those 12 states, his wife can simply decide she wants to end the marriage for no reason, kick him out of the house, and, most painful of all, take his children away so that he gets to see them a dozen times a year. All this can happen overnight; it does; and there is nothing in the law in most states to prevent it. Rather, most state judicial system thrive on this sort legal regime. Welcome to Islamic Sharia Law, American style.

The Last Men in Europe

There is some self-respecting manliness left in Western Europe after all. Ignoring the tremendous pressure, threats, and outright economic bribery by their politicians, big businesses, big union, and Brussells, the voters of Ireland rejected on Thursday the Lisbon Treaty. The said treaty, a new super Constitution for a European mega state run by unelected bureaucrats, has been meekly ratified by eighteen big and small countries who have neither a sense of culture nor any idea of consequences. Bowing sheepishly to the lure of a pan European supra state where everything is 'taken care of' by 'enlightened' bureaucrats and 'silly' national laws are vetoed by the pen of mid-level civil servants, many of the erstwhile great European people simply went along.

But not the Irish.

Leave it to them to be proud of their culture, their traditions, and their hard fought freedom. Even as Ireland has become one of the richest countries in Europe-surpassing the United Kingdom and France in per capita income-her people's sharp sense of national identity and Christian faith has remained intact to a large extent. It is an identity and faith that has prompted Ireland to have, in all of Europe, the strongest legal protections for free speech, traditional marriage, unborn children, migrants, and the poor. It is heartening to see that even the threats and bribery of Europe's mightiest politicians, businessmen, and civil servants could not buy the Irish off.

Real men, as the Irish poet W B Yates noted, cannot be easily persuaded to part with their birthright. Freedom is the birthright of the Irish; even in 2008 they have men amongst them who won't give it up for a few silver farthings.

Go mbeannaí Dia is Muire duit!

Oh Canada!

A couple of weeks ago we were passionately debating the issue of California’s unelected judges legalizing gay ‘marriage’.. The debate was heated, lots of feelings were bruised, and I doubt too many people changed their views. Most argued from the core of their convictions for it touched on principles held deep within the soul.

We should be all thankful that most of us who participated in that debate live in the United States. Think about these two stories that have been, not surprisingly, not too widely reported by the mainstream media and the established denizens of ‘human rights’. In one case, a very prominent pastor was dragged before a ‘human rights tribunal’ for a letter he wrote to a newspaper editor in which he strongly opposed gay marriage. The sentence of the tribunal? Publicly apologize to the gay community, lose forever your rights to speak on the issue gay marriage in print, internet, radio or television, go through a ‘reeducation’ program, and pay a fine of 7000. Failure to comply will result in imprisonment. The other story involved another human rights tribunal in the same country that imposed a very similar sentence, with a slightly lesser fine, on a prominent journalist whose article used strong language against Middle Eastern terror groups whom the said journalist very clearly separated in his article from regular law abiding Muslims and Arabs.

The incidents mentioned above did not happen in some Taliban court in Afghanistan or a Nazi ‘peoples court’ in Germany. They are the very recent verdicts of the Alberta Human Rights Tribunal and the British Columbia Human Rights tribunal in that erstwhile beacon of freedom, Canada.

Any Canadian internet posters specially should take notice. If your viewpoints expressed here are in conflict with the bureaucrats who staff the ‘human rights tribunal’ in your province, you may be prosecuted and sent to reeducation camps. It is no longer a Orwellian nightmare..it’s a reality.

And by the…what happened in Canada is exactly what the liberal Democrats want in the United States. The so called ‘hate’ crimes law that the Democrat Congress has passed (but President Bush promise a veto) will be signed by Barack Obama in an instant and he has said so.

When Barack Obama and the liberal Democrats go after your pastor and bishop for the ‘wrong’ kind of sermons, don’t pretend that we didn’t warn you. When they pick up journalists in the middle of the night for writing against multiculturalism, don’t tell KsReaganite he didn’t tell you everything. For you and you alone will be responsible when, angered over the price of gas and the news from Iraq, you turn the ancient liberties of religious worship, free speech, and free press over to the fascists who come like Greeks bearing gifts of hope and change. And you would have deserved it richly.

You think it can’t happen here, don’t you? Well, that’s what the Germans thought..after all, they had democracy, a Constitution, a parliament, and a strong willed people. That’s what the Canadians thought.

In democratic societies, liberty is never lost in one stroke; but it is rather eroded slowly and incrementally while the people are lulled by a false sense of security, pride, enlightenment, and civility. When they finally wake up, it is too late.

College: The Dem fallacy

One of the most loathsome and corrupting intellectual elements of latter day liberalism is the idea that everyone should go to college and taxpayers should pay for part of it. The entire thrust of the liberal Democrat legislative education agenda in Congress is to increase the share of the taxpayer’s burden to send everyone to college.

Everyone should not go to college because college isn’t for everyone, no matter how offended the liberal Dems feel about that truth. Nor does society benefit from such a silly and expensive idea. Truth be told, for large proportion of ‘students’ in college, it is five and six years of attending the easiest classes possible to get away with the most worthless degree imaginable, in between bouts of drinking, partying, and doing drugs. These ‘students’ want the parents and the government to pick up the tab for the entire experience while their own part time jobs are used to defray the payments on their sporty cars, fraternity fees, and beer runs. And if and when they do graduate, the search is on to linger on with a few classes here and a course there to defer payment on the already heavily subsidized school loans for the longest term possible. Rarely do you see these ‘students’ actually majoring in the hard sciences, criminal justice, economics, engineering, or business though many start of that way. No, often such individuals are found in art history, sociology, general studies, anthropology, women studies, philosophy and the like. We already pay for them to have the ‘college’ experience; now the Dems want us to pay even more.

Frankly, the truth be told, the federal government should not be subsidizing college education at all with the exception of education in areas that are deemed vital to national security, public safety, and macro-economic well being of society. That doesn’t mean that art history or women studies are not worthy majors; it only implies that those are not majors that the taxpayer need to fund from their pockets. I will be blunt: an art museum director is important to civic society, but not a tenth as much so as a police officer or computer engineer.

Readers will probably wonder if I am one of those anti-intellectual kinds who are against formal learning. Or may be I was born with a golden spoon in my mouth. Far from it, KsReaganite has been both a student and a teacher in higher academia and remains an alumnus of one the biggest college fraternities in the country. But my college education was not financed one dime by any government but by hard sacrifices. Sacrifice on the part of average hard working parents who eschewed ever newer cars and vacations so that their children went to college. Sacrifice on the part of the student who shared very modest dwellings and made Ramen noodles a part of regular diet. Not that any of this should matter for the veracity of commentary must stand on its own logic, principle, and rationale, not on the background of the commentator. But I know how many readers can, understandably, react.

Let's be honest. The real reason so many liberal Dems want everyone to go to college is to divert taxes to the ultra liberal faculties who want to get paid to spew their Stalinist ideology on campuses. They want Americans to pay for the brainwashing of their own children. Typical totalitarian approach.

Important Days

Yesterday marked the fourth anniversary of the passing of the namesake of this blog, our beloved 40th president, Ronald Wilson Reagan. Let us remember Ron and Nancy in our prayers and give thanks for his leadership at a time when America was it's lowest and our enemies at their zenith. Thanks to President Reagan's faith in the Shining City on the Hill, the organized global slavery known as Communism is now largely history. Don't worry...one term of John McCain and the last vestiges of Communism will be gone from Cuba and North Korea too.

Today, June 6, is of course, the anniversary of D-Day. On that day sixty four years ago, soldiers, sailors, marines, and airmen of the British Commonwealth, the United States, Free France, and Poland went ashore to begin the end of Third Reich. It was the biggest amphibious operation in the history of man. But more important, it was the triumph of the idea that some values are worth fighting for and sacrificing for selflessly. Those who want to cut and run in Iraq just don't get it.

God Bless the Coalition of the Willing.

Pursuing the WF demographic

It will come down to one key demographic: the working class white woman. She is the one who couldn't afford college or didn't want to burden herself with a pricey college education, the one who often drinks a beer or two over the weekend wondering how to fill up her gas tank for the commute next week, the one who considers God and country a part of everyday life. She was the one who stood firm for Hillary Rodham Clinton as the midriff baring teeny boppers wannabes sipped Chablis and toasted their new messiah Obama.

She is the one John Sidney McCain must woo and Barack Hussein Obama must seduce.

Not a minute must be wasted in reaching out to the millions of such women who are as patriotic as you and I, who work hard every day, and who feel disgusted that their own husbands, sons, and brothers are mocked as relics of a Neanderthal past by the hipster Obama machine. I sincerely doubt that they much care for having a president endorsed by those who have pledged to wipe us off the map. Sure we have differences with the Clinton brigades over taxes and trade; but what unites us in wanting to make sure that America is safe is greater than the monetary issues that divide us.

It is in the hearts and souls of these women that the safety of America and the future of the free world rests.

Scared of a tough woman

Over the weekend, while waiting for someone very dear to me, I had the dubious pleasure of watching HBO’s ‘Recount’, a dramatization about the Florida recounts in the 2000 presidential election. Given that radical activist Kevin Spacey was in the lead role, I did not expect the cable movie to be unbiased, and it was not. Unsurprisingly the film made the Al Gore guys look good and the George Bush fellas look bad. Nonetheless, it was good acting and a well researched script..to give credit where credit is due. What did indeed surprise and shock me, however, was the vehement vendetta with which the producers went after the then Florida Secretary of State (and later Member of Congress) Katherine Harris. I mean she was not the lead figure in the real story (Gore, Bush, Judge Lewis, and the Supreme Court were) but she certainly must have crossed Hollywood the wrong way.

‘Recount’ portrays Ms. Harris as a vainglorious, self-centered, clueless politicians who is corrupt to the bone and who often talks about Biblical verses. I had met Ms. Harris once briefly and found her to be anything but. Except..yes, she is a woman of deep faith. And that should have made me immune to the initial surprise at seeing HBO’s nasty caricature of her.

You see, Katherine Harris is everything that the liberals hate about a woman. She is made her way in the tough world of Florida politics without the benefit of a politician husband and without becoming the concubine of extremist groups like NOW and NEA. She got an Ivy League education and yet remained faithful to the values that she learnt in Florida Panhandle’s small towns. She dresses well, speaks in complete sentences, and has no problem putting down prima donna men with big egos and small minds. And, to top it all, she confesses openly and boldly to being a Bible believing Christian woman who believes in the Ten Commandments personally and publicly (none of that silly ‘I am personally…but…’ nonsense from this woman).

Women like Katherine Harris scare the liberals and disgust them. The likes of her turn on its head the false idea that a 21st century modern American woman can express her political philosophy only after clearance from the self proclaimed feminist radicals at NOW and WNLA.

No wonder, Hollywood hates Katherine Harris
